Abigail Silva, PhD, MPH
Dr. Silva received her Master and Doctorate in Public Health Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health. In 2013, she joined CINCCH as a post-doctoral research fellow in order to improve her understanding of health care delivery. Currently, she is a research health scientist with the Center and an Associate Professor at Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine Department of Public Health Sciences.
Dr. Silva has over ten years of experience in disparities and evaluation research. As a trained cancer epidemiologist her research interests are in cancer care access and outcomes. At the Center, Dr. Silva is currently a collaborator on a project funded by the VA Spark-Seed-Spread Innovation Investment Program to design My ChemoCalendar, a tool that helps patients learn how to safely self-administer their oral anticancer drugs. She is also a collaborator on a project that is examining the impact of the Affordable Care Act on health care coverage, access, and care coordination among Veterans. In addition, she is a co-investigator on a study that is evaluating the potential value and limitations of a newly available data source for individual-level socioeconomic status.
