Neil Jordan, PhD, MS


Dr. Jordan is a health economist and health services researcher at CINCCH.  In addition, he is director of the Mental Health Services & Policy Program and an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and Preventive Medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  Dr. Jordan also directs the Health Economics Program and Health Sciences Integrated Ph.D. Program within the Institute for Public Health and Medicine at Northwestern.

His work spans several areas, including quality and cost of care for persons with chronic illnesses, financing and outcomes of mental health and child welfare services, and economic evaluation.  Dr. Jordan is collaborating with colleagues at the Tuscaloosa VA on a VA merit award to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of Individual Placement and Support vocational rehabilitation services for unemployed Veterans with a PTSD diagnosis.  Dr. Jordan was the PI of a recently completed VA merit award to determine which facility and patient characteristics distinguish VA facilities that perform well in providing evidence-based depression care for persons with depression and multiple chronic conditions from VA facilities that are less successful in achieving high rates of concordance with the VA’s guideline for depression care for these patients.  Dr. Jordan is a member of the CINCCH workgroup that Advances Research Outside of Focus Areas.

Dr. Jordan came to the HSR&D center in 2004 from the Florida Mental Health Institute and Department of Health Policy & Management at the University of South Florida.  He earned his doctorate in health services research from the University of Minnesota in 2002.  He has a B.S. in economics and an M.S. in public policy from Carnegie Mellon University.
